Tessa Evans' Innocent Smile

Tessa Evans has been born without a nose

Grainne Evans, the mother of 17-month-old Tessa, said she did not know that her little girl had the disease until she was held in her arms for the first time. Due to the influence of illness, the baby’s physical condition is very weak. Doctors even discovered a hole in Tessa’s heart.

To help the baby breathe while eating and sleeping, doctors performed a tracheal transplant for Tessa when she was only 8 days old. Only 11 weeks later, the baby had to undergo eye surgery because the disease seriously affected his vision.

Tessa had to undergo a tracheostomy and eye surgery.

However, the surgery was unsuccessful and the baby’s eye was completely blind. Even so, the evil disease did not stop Tessa’s smile. Now, the baby can run, jump and laugh. It is her optimism and cheerfulness that has become an inspiration and motivation for other families with children with the same disease. Tessa is expected to receive an artificial nose transplant this summer at Great Ormond Street Hospital (UK).Touched by the smile of a girl without a nose
